About Us

We are a small cricket club, without a home ground, formed from Hay Hill Baptist Church in Bath. The church had previously played matches, in the heyday of such greats as Lyndon Hughes. But, when Rob and Mark discussed their desire to play cricket, there had not been anything for some time, apart from one farce against Widcombe in which Brazilian Marcos Miranda had the starring role!

Mark's vision for Hay Hill cricket was to give the opportunity for people to play the great game who wouldn't otherwise have the chance. It is unthinkable for an adult who has never really played cricket to go to a club and ask to have a go! Well, at the very least it would be intimidating.

Through running this club, Mark has found many others of like mind, who have found great pleasure in playing even the lowest standard of cricket matches, and in striving to become better cricketers.

We play evening twenty over matches against other teams from the Bath area, always looking for opposition who will not totally destroy us. It's a very English state of mind to say "it's the taking part that counts", but it is kind of true. Having said that, we really want to win...

Directions

We play our Bath Churches games at Monkton Combe School's Landham ground which you can see here:

Note that this season, we have to park by the Longmead ground on the other side of the viaduct (A36) and walk over the little foot bridge.

Mark has created this helpful image which should be self-explanatory!

How to get to our ground

NOTE: Accuracy of exact details of route, position of car park and appearance of foot bridge is very dubious.
